680 Home Appliances, Inc. was incorporated on August 28, 1968. Its primary purpose then was the sale of home appliances. The name “680 Home Appliances, Inc.” was taken from the address of the original first store in 680 Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila. It was also selected due to the name's uniqueness signifying very good fortune and good luck in Chinese. Rizal Avenue or Avenida Rizal at the time was the country’s busiest and center of trade where it made its hallmark selling millions of electric fans and gas stoves then at less than half the prevailing prices with various giveaways. |

680's outlet continued to grow in number. On August 23, 1979, the company purchased huge concrete building and land situated at 839-841 Edsa, Diliman, Quezon City, then known as Highway 54 major route to all provincial areas around Manila. The land has a total area of 3,300 square meters. A five (5) storey concrete building with a total area of 5,000 square meters was constructed in this area. The main office was transferred to this location. 680 Home Appliances EDSA was then opened to the public in December, 1980. In the 1990's, an additional annex building was constructed to make the total building area 12,000 square meters. Even up to the present, it is the biggest of all the 680 outlets and is still 680's main office. |

In 1989, the property in 5021 P. Burgos Makati, another one of 680's outlets, was inaugurated. It was acquired in 1978 and a 5 storey building was constructed in the late '80's. It was envisioned to have a two-pronged purpose: first, to make the ground floor into another outlet of 680; second, to try unit rentals in the upper floors. The original concept of long-term rentals had to be revised in order to adjust to the growing demands of the public. That was when 680 Apartelle was born. |

Inaugurated on September 01, 1996, this outlet was 680's venture into the mall concept. Shortly thereafter, another outlet in Baliuag, Bulacan was opened on December 15, 1996. The high traffic in the area attracted the company to set up this outlet at the very heart of Baliuag. Simultaneously, another branch in Tanay, Rizal with a 600 square meter floor area was opened on January 08, 1997. |
